Mixtape Still in Rock #7 : Melted Jazz

Les amis, Still in Rock est heureux de vous présenter sa septième mixtape. Intitulé Melted Jazz, cette dernière laisse place à une poignée de morceaux qui, bien que créés et interprétés par des musiciens qui n’étaient pas des jazzmen (exit Mingus, exit Art Blakey…) reproduisent l’ambiance d’un club enfumé où le whisky est délicatement posé sur chaque table. Les têtes se balancent et l’audience claque dans ses doigts, le beat est le maître mot. 


D’un côté se trouve la mélancolie amoureuse des Only Ones, la poésie de Van Morrison, le vague à l’âme de Johnny Thunders et le spleen des Caretaker. De l’autre, l’entrain de Tom Waits, la pétulance de Pavement et le groove jazzy de Chain & The Gang. Les ambiances se mélangent de nombreuses fois pour former un tout. Le maestro se nomme Kerouac et il nous rappelle que “les seules gens qui existent sont les déments, ceux qui ont la démence de vivre, la démence de discourir, la démence d’être sauvés, qui veulent jouir de tout dans un seul instant, ceux qui ne savent pas bâiller ni sortir un lieu commun mais qui brûlent, qui brûlent, pareils aux fabuleux feux jaunes des chandelles romaines”.

My friends, Still in Rock is pleased to present its seventh mixtape. Entitled Melted Jazz, it leaves room for a handful of jazzy pieces of music, although created and performed by musicians who were not jazzmen (exit Mingus, exit Art Blakey…). It aims at reproducing the atmosphere of a smoky club where whiskey glasses are delicately placed on each table. Some heads are swinging and the audience snaps his fingers, the Beat is the key word.

On one side lies the romantic melancholy of the Only Ones, the poetry of Van Morrison, the gloom of Johnny Thunders and the spleen of the Caretaker. On the other, the impulse of Tom Waits, the petulance of Pavement and jazzy groove of Chain & The Gang. The moods are mixed with the aim of creating a whole. The maestro is called Kerouac and reminds us that “the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars.”
